Richard Pandohie, the Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of Seprod Group of Companies, is remaining optimistic that the group will overcome Saturday night's fire which gutted a section of main warehouse of Facey Commodity Company Limited, one of its major arms of operation, in St Andrew.

In a tweet showing a photograph of the blaze at the facility at New Port West along Marcus Garvey Drive, Pandohie admitted that it was "hard to watch" the fiery scene.

"Really tough night for our team, major fire at our main Facey warehouse… We will overcome this, but it is hard to watch," tweeted Pandohie late Saturday.

Firefighters were called to the location to bring the blaze under control. The extent of the damage caused by the fire is not yet known.

The fire came at a time when the manufacturing sector has been badly impacted by logistical challenges brought on by the ongoing coronavirus (COVID) pandemic.

As Pandohie, a former President of the Jamaica Manufacturers’ and Exporters’ Association (JMEA), looks to focus on the recovery efforts for Facey Commodity, scores of persons have been providing him with encouraging words on social media, including Twitter.

"This is truly rough," tweeted Naomi Francis, Press Secretary in the Office of the Prime Minister (OPM), among the wellwishers.

"In the midst of the tragedy, I pray you rise like the phoenix," she added.

Businesswoman, lecturer and media practitioner, Marcia Forbes, while expressing her regret at the fire, agreed with Pandohie that the company would overcome the challenges from the fire.

She tweeted: "You are a resilient Jamaican company; you will rise again. Stronger than ever before. So sorry for this setback at this time, however."

Meanwhile, social media user, Carlene Sinclair, tweeted: "This is really hard to watch. All the work and inventory going up in flames. Lots of work to be done, but you will indeed overcome."

For her part, Georgia Mullings observed that the fire was "very hard to watch".
